LENS NOITARIPSA (For Nigeria At 51)

Your wars, you must end Brotherhood you must tend. Your hatred, you must end In harmony, you must blend. And cherished desire to succeed yours To reality prevailing must turn As you from axis evil yours away turn To peace audible across ears all born.

HON. SEGUN ERINLE

This is one politician I respect so much. He's a politician cum fantastic humanist who has been belabouring himself with righting the wrongs in our society. Ekiti people may or may not be able to fathom the kind of material this man is made of, but people like us know him to be friend of humanity. Unbiased, non-judgmental, focus, flexible etc. Hon. Erinle is one honourable with no explainable substitute in the current EKHA. I congratulate Ekiti people. Comrade A.O Oyeniyi, Abuja, N
igeria.

THIS WATER IS NOW INTOXICATING. (In reaction to critics calling President Jonathan of Nigeria a useless goat on Facebook)

With crude loots theirs Bespoiling the land. With touch of fraudulent fingers theirs The land tossing off. Klepto-foul strings of words theirs Making here ill-scenting a land. Children boko haraming the village square As the wombs dewombing in galore one-night-stands’ protrusions theirs. The land gropes on as new parliament of the streets emerged Telling criticism dangerous and desacredization of the land birthing. Yet we lionize, idolize political big bellies So as we public office rotundities do. My President is not perfect but not a useless goat As chanted by you the drunks.

FUTURITI 9/05

(Upon remembering 2nd Year of Gani Fawehinmi’s Death) All garments, to wearing out will tear, This I know. All suns shining, to west will slope to weather, This I know. Death, the streets will not depart, This I know. For all humans from life must expire, This I know. But generations mine born, unborn will care, This I know. To visit scenes mine with no fear, This I know. And disdain not the father they had, For I degarbed them from tears theirs.

NIGHT SMILE.

PATRIS OKIGBOLUMBA (For Christopher Okigbo and Patrice Emery Lumumba)

In the flood of cruel moonlight
And bold blackness of the dark
Patkris you bewailed our fate
To restore the face.
You contraried the winds like an oak
And into huge distance you leaped like a bolt
As our land danced naked
Paddling the darkness.
